Mario Kills Tanooki ..

Hello fellow blog readers! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve wrote a blog post. I hope this post finds everyone healthy and happy.  Earlier today PETA put out a statement about the newest Nintendo game “Super Mario 3D Land” for most Nintendo fans this game has been one of the most anticipated games of the year, with its amazing graphics and the comeback of the famous Tanooki suit. For those of you who don’t know what a Tanooki suit is, it’s a special power up leaf that gives Mario the ability to wear a raccoon suit so that he can use his tail to defeat enemies and fly, this outfit originally came out in October 1988 on Super Mario Bros 3.

Peta’s statement came out by surprise the people for the ethical treatment of animals claim the suit is doing a un justice to raccoon dog’s, saying that the wearing the skin of a animal such as the tanooki  will power people to slaughter animals for fur clothes to wear and that the video game makes it okay to do so.

As a fellow Nintendo fan I was nearly shocked to read this statement from Peta, But what really took the cake was when I went to the Peta webpage at features.peta.org/Mario-kills-tanooki/ This page Peta has put together with a video game called Super Tanooki Skin 2D with a bloody picture of Mario holding the head of a raccoon with a video under the game called take action to save raccoon dogs. Along with some other stuff making fun of Nintendo and McDonalds.

I've been a Nintendo fan since I was a child; I spent countless hours playing super Mario bros 3 when the Tanooki suit was released. I find this statement from peta almost to be a joke for attention. While playing Super Mario Bros 3 I never once thought about the Tanooki suit as something bad or thought hey that’s cool looking on Mario I want to slaughter an animal and get me a suit too. That’s a crazy thought from them and this is coming from an animal lover, I would never harm one. I do plan to buy Super Mario 3D land. In my opinion it’s a cartoon and harming an animal because it is the last on a Nintendo fans mind.

I’m very curious about how Nintendo will handle the accusations from Peta; I also wonder if there will be a lawsuit on Nintendo’s side for remaking the Mario character into a game such as Peta did.  I really hope that this ridicules nonsense will blow over soon! But again guy’s what are your thoughts? Do you agree with Peta? Or do you feel the same as I do?
