Android vs Blackberry

There have been many questions and comments over the past year about Blackberry service vs. Android and although both phones function as smartphones they have completely different operating system platforms. One of the most popular questions I receive from viewers on my YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/sassygirl8324 is "Should I buy Android or the Blackberry?" This is always tough to answer without knowing the user personally; therefore it is hard to give the appropriate response. Hopefully today I can shine some light on this debate.  It's very well known that Android and Blackberry have a very large community of die-hard supporters.  Please note that this is only my opinion and nothing more. Let’s begin!

Android is owned by the giant of the internet Google, when buying this device you will find that you must obtain a Google e-mail address called Gmail to even run the device's Market and many other features. Android offers one of the largest application markets on a smart phone device and there are currently 200,000 apps available for download, Applications can range from exciting games such as "Angry Birds" to programs including "Barcode Scanner.” It goes without saying that Android has a much better market for applications than Blackberry.

Android devices are commonly touch screen phones, on occasion they may have a slide out keyboard for text messaging and e-mail. Some people find that the touch screen can become a large bother when texting on a virtual keypad instead of having a physical one. Android has amazing social networking and instant messaging features.  Customizing the Android phone is fun and easy with cool applications for wallpaper and ringtones along with the option for widgets and themes. Android does have the best customization choices when comparing it with the Blackberry. If you want a phone with all the bells and whistles as well as superlative applications for personal customization go with the Android and you won’t be displeased.

Blackberry was developed by research in motion and when it first came out was known as a business phone for people who worked for large companies or ran their own business. Nowadays many people own and are satisfied with a Blackberry device. The Blackberry service is one of a kind and many people enjoy this phone because of the multitasking features.  One being that it's incredibly nice to be involved in a phone call and still have the ability to load applications and do simple tasks at the same time.

Blackberry is also very well known and popular because of one application called "BlackBerry Messenger" also known as BBM.  Blackberry Messenger is assigned to all phones and gives you the option to obtain your own PIN in which you can send to friends and family to add you, sort of like major messenger carriers (Yahoo or MSN) but what makes Blackberry Messenger so appealing to people is that you can send photos, voice recordings, and messages to the contact within seconds.  It's very fast, reliable, and can be a lot of fun. Blackberry is also known for Push e-mail service, this means there's no waiting for your email to come through on you're mobile device.  Blackberry devices are normally good quality phones with nice physical keypads for e-mailing and sms messages. With most companies you will be charged a certain amount of money each month to use a Blackberry, they call this charge "BIS."  Without BIS you cannot run internet or email functions. Without BIS a Blackberry is nothing more than a simple phone. Blackberry devices are not for designing home screens and customization. Their greatest features are E-mailing, Web, BBM, and Phone calls. Although Blackberry offers a Blackberry Market for applications they are few and far between when trying to find something you're interested in downloading. This phone is not for games, but if you're looking for stability with calling, Emailing, BBM, and web this is the phone for you.

So when asked the question Android vs. Blackberry the answer is actually quite simple, what do you need in a phone? If the answer is cool applications and customization then Android is the one for you. If you're looking for a device for E-mail and web, Blackberry is the better of the two!  Both phones have amazing features along with some drawbacks. It always comes down to personal preference.  What do you prefer?
